GRANDE PRAIRIE - An evacuation has been ordered on the outskirts of a northern Alberta city due to a wildfire.
The community of Sturgeon County, Alta., has rallied behind a family whose ranch was destroyed by wildfire on Saturday, helping to move livestock and setting up a GoFundMe drive.
Sturgeon County officials declared a state of emergency Sunday, May 4, as three aerial firefighting helicopters, backed by ground crews, battled an out-of-control wildfire.
"It's always scary, especially when it's that close to anybody's home, and our thoughts are with everybody at the town of Redwater for anyone who's lost their residence or any land"
