A rapidly intensifying wildfire in Alberta’s Sturgeon County has forced officials to extend evacuation orders as the blaze, identified as the Redwater wildfire, has doubled in size despite cooler weather on the horizon. Residents and emergency crews face a growing challenge amid nature’s fiery antics.
It’s still too early for the summer lightning that zaps fires into existence in July and August, which means the majority of fires started in May are man-made.
While Alberta is experiencing cooler weather, officials say it's too soon to breathe a sigh of relief as the wildfire danger still remains high across much of the province.
