Authorities in British Columbia have issued urgent warnings as rising temperatures, dry conditions, and strong winds combine to elevate wildfire risks across the southern province and the Interior. Residents are urged to take preventive measures against potential fire outbreaks amid this harsh weather surge.

FORT ST. JOHN - Firefighters from Fort St. John, B.C., and the provincial wildfire service are battling a blaze that the city says has prompted evacuations.
Crews are battling a pair of out of control wildfires in northeastern B.C., one of which has knocked out phone and internet service in Tumbler Ridge.
The initiative will see Fortis cut off power in the mentioned communities, if warranted, during extreme weather events.
The British Columbia government is urging people to use caution as a combination of warm, dry conditions and strong winds moves over the southern part of the province, raising the wildfire risk.
An open fire warning has been issued for Interior B.C. residents due to warm and dry temperatures this weekend.
